Jess Kalirai

I'm Jess, a fully qualified integrative therapist, founder of JK Counselling and accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). My passion for becoming a therapist was born from my experiences as a child and young adult, struggling with my mental health and not being able to find adequate support. From that point on, I wanted to provide a safe space for others to explore their concerns so that they weren't left feeling isolated and broken like I was. As an Asian woman, I understand the cultural barriers and invalidating treatment from a variety of cultures that can prevent people from seeking mental health support. I believe therapy should be accessible for all and that no one should be made to feel shameful or embarrassed for struggling with their mental health. Additionally, I have first hand experience of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and understand the difficulties that come with chronic illness. I've seen many therapists in my life so I know how daunting it can be opening up to a virtual stranger about the most difficult times in your life. I offer an environment free of judgement or pressure and you are in control of the pace we take when working through your issues. Sessions I currently offer online sessions on a weekly or fortnightly basis. I offer a free 15 minute initial consultation in which you can get a feel for me and the way I work, discuss your presenting issue and I can answer any questions you may have. There is absolutely no pressure after this consultation to book a session and if either of us feel it's not the right fit, I'll do my best to signpost you to alternative therapists that might be better suited.
