Is Wobble legitimate?

Is Wobble legitimate? Who runs it, who the therapists are, and how they are checked

Yes. Wobble is a registered trademark run by Get Wobbled Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11737525) and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller (ZB681991). Every response is recorded by a qualified UK therapist on a professional register, whose qualification, registration and insurance documents Wobble has checked, never by AI. Wobble's Clinical Lead, James Penney, NCPS Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, reviews live Wobbles and responses on an ongoing basis. Your first Wobble is £9.99, usually £14.99, and if a response is not delivered you are refunded without asking.

Who is behind Wobble?

Wobble is the trading name and registered trademark of Get Wobbled Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 11737525, which you can look up on the Companies House register. It was founded by Jack Murphy and is based in the UK. The company is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller, registration ZB681991, which you can also check on the ICO's public register. The terms of service, privacy policy and contact details are on this website, and the company answers its own email.

Are the therapists real, and are they qualified?

Yes to both. Every Wobble response is recorded by a qualified UK therapist, never generated by AI. To work on Wobble a therapist must hold a recognised diploma or degree-level qualification, be registered with a UK professional body (BACP, NCPS, UKCP or BABCP) or a statutory regulator such as the HCPC, hold current professional indemnity insurance, and be based in the UK. Those registers are public: anyone can look a therapist up by name and registration number. Wobble's clinical bench includes an HCPC-registered clinical psychologist as well as registered counsellors and psychotherapists.

Wobble's Clinical Lead is James Penney, an NCPS Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. Therapist training is signed off and the clinical audition scored by a clinical lead before anyone sees a real Wobble, and the checking does not stop there: the clinical lead reviews live Wobbles and the responses that go back on an ongoing basis, and acts on anything that falls short. Some Wobbles that mention risk are held for the clinical lead's personal review before they reach a therapist at all. James also reads every article on this site when it goes live.

How are Wobble therapists checked?

In six stages, and the checks are of documents, not of claims.

  1. Eligibility. Only a qualified, registered, insured, UK-based therapist can apply, and the requirements are published on the careers page.
  2. Documents, verified. Qualification certificates, the insurance certificate and proof of professional-body membership are all mandatory uploads, and Wobble checks them. No documents, no progress.
  3. Contract. A signed service agreement and data processing agreement: indemnity insurance of at least £1 million or the level the professional body requires, no diagnosis through the platform, mandatory safeguarding escalation, UK GDPR obligations.
  4. Training. Structured, sequential training on scope, crisis and how to respond, each module locked until the previous one is passed, signed off by a clinical lead.
  5. Clinical audition. Before touching a real Wobble, the therapist records responses to realistic mock cases of varied risk and complexity. A clinical lead scores them. A fail means no access to the queue.
  6. Continuous quality review. Wobble's clinical lead reviews live Wobbles and the responses that go back on an ongoing basis. Alongside that, the person who received each response is asked to score it on five measures, feeding a quality score per therapist. Anything that falls short leads to review, coaching or removal, and a response can be withdrawn and replaced by a different therapist.

Wobble does not run criminal-record (DBS) checks; a DBS certificate is optional at application. The UK counselling bodies' shared standards framework, SCoPEd, sets a floor for what a qualified, registered, supervised and insured therapist is, and that floor is Wobble's minimum. Wobble then adds the document verification, the audition on its own format, and continuous quality review of live Wobbles by its clinical lead.

Is what I send confidential and secure?

Yes. What you send is seen only by the qualified, registered therapists who are free to pick it up and whoever takes it, all of whom are contractually bound to confidentiality, and by Wobble's clinical team where there is a safety concern. Voice notes and videos are stored privately and are never publicly accessible. Get Wobbled Ltd is an ICO-registered data controller and handles everything under UK GDPR; the privacy policy sets out what is kept, for how long, and how to ask for it to be deleted. Payments are taken by Stripe, and Wobble does not see or store your card details.

What happens if something goes wrong?

If a response is not delivered within a reasonable time beyond the stated target, or your Wobble is blocked by safety screening after payment, you get a full refund, or your plan credit back, without asking. If a response felt unsafe, inappropriate, unclear or off-target, you can raise a concern through the platform or by emailing support@getwobble.co.uk. Depending on the concern, Wobble reviews the response, offers a replacement from a different therapist, refunds you, or takes action with the therapist. Wobble is for people who are struggling but not in crisis: a Wobble that mentions risk may be held for the clinical lead's personal review before it reaches a therapist, you are told on screen and by email if so, and if Wobble cannot support it you are refunded in full and given crisis support details.

Is Wobble therapy, and is it regulated?

Wobble is not therapy and does not claim to be, but it is mental health support, delivered by qualified, registered therapists: a personal video response with practical guidance and one next step, that sits before therapy or alongside it. Counselling and psychotherapy are not statutorily regulated in the UK, which is why the public registers of the professional bodies matter: they are what separate a qualified, accountable practitioner from anyone who calls themselves a therapist. Wobble only works with therapists on those registers, or with statutory registration. Therapists do not diagnose through the platform and do not offer emergency risk management, and the service says so throughout.

Questions people ask

  • Is Wobble a real company?

Yes. Wobble is a registered trademark of Get Wobbled Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 11737525, and an ICO-registered data controller (ZB681991). Both registrations can be checked publicly.

  • Are Wobble's therapists AI?

No. Every response is recorded by a qualified, registered UK therapist. Software transcribes voice notes and may summarise your submission to brief the therapist, but the video is made by a human.

  • Can I check a therapist's registration myself?

Yes. BACP, NCPS, UKCP and BABCP all run public registers you can search by name, and the HCPC register is public too. Wobble checks membership proof before a therapist can work, and the registration is theirs to show you.

  • Does Wobble DBS check therapists?

No. A DBS certificate is optional at application. Wobble verifies qualifications, professional-body registration and insurance, then trains and auditions every therapist before they see a real Wobble.

  • Is Wobble a crisis service?

No. If you are in immediate danger or having thoughts of harming yourself, call 999 or go to A&E, call NHS 111 and select the mental health option, or call Samaritans on 116 123, free, 24 hours a day.
